The week in Vingåker: water week, parish day and the last days of July
Week 31 starts with the Activity Bus water week and the library’s dog session, continues with summer music and a garden concert on Thursday, and ends with parish day, cheese in Högsjö and the industrial museum. Lunch menus have switched to week 31.
Why week 31 is worth following
Week 31 is when summer in Vingåker shifts character. The Activity Bus enters its water week with swimming, water games and a water slide. At the same time, the calendar fills with new dates: the library’s dog session on Monday, summer music and a garden concert on Thursday, and a weekend with parish day in Österåker and cheese tasting in Högsjö.
Lunch menus have switched to week 31. Humlegården’s restaurant serves dishes including bratwurst, moussaka and cured ham according to the municipal PDF. Joan’s lunch page still showed week 30 at our check on 26 July — we will update when the restaurant publishes the next weekly menu.
Here we gather the most important points from the week gone by and what awaits from 27 July to 2 August. Everything is based on verified sources in our calendar and the municipality’s schedule.
What was on the programme 20–26 July
The past week was one of the fullest in the summer calendar. We cannot confirm visitor numbers or atmosphere, but several local events had fixed dates according to the municipal event calendar and the Activity Bus week 30 schedule.
Monday 20 July had fishing with the Activity Bus in Viala and drop-in with a social therapy dog at the library on the programme. Tuesday and Wednesday had Tosca scheduled at Sävstaholm Farm at 18:00, while the bus offered ghost ball at Sävsta and outdoor play at the youth centre.
Thursday 23 July was a double music evening in the calendar: summer music at Österåker Church at 18:00 and a garden concert with Conny Andersson Dahlman and Thomas Allard at Båsenberga Hotell at 19:00. The same day had kabaddi at Högsjö bathing place with the Activity Bus.
Friday 24 July was packed. Opera with The Two Cecilias was scheduled at Säfstaholm Castle at 18:00, and the Activity Bus had outdoor play at Hjortgränd. The municipal calendar also listed evening events such as Kvällstrollet and a summer party the same evening — we have no information on how they actually went.
The weekend closed with a flea market and curiosities round in Läppe on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00. A two-day route organised by the village association Kreativa Läppe with flea markets, curios, jam and smoked fish according to the municipal event page.
Monday to Wednesday: water week and the library
Week 31 starts with the Activity Bus water week. Monday to Friday share the same times: 11:00–15:00 according to the municipal PDF. Monday the bus is at Högsjö bathing place, Tuesday brings water games outside the youth centre and Wednesday Ironman at Högsjö bathing place. Bring a change of clothes and check the weather.
Monday afternoon, children and young people aged 6–17 can meet social therapy dog Sabeha or trainee Edda at the library. Drop-in 14:00–17:00, free and no registration, but places are limited. Ask at the information desk when you arrive.
For anyone wanting a calmer activity all week, HittaUt remains with checkpoints until 30 September, and Säfstaholm’s summer exhibitions continue daily 11:00–16:00 until 27 September.
Thursday: water slide, church music and hotel garden
Thursday 30 July is the week’s most compact day for anyone wanting to combine swimming and evening music. The Activity Bus has a water slide at Lytterstabadet 11:00–15:00. Check municipal information especially in uncertain weather.
At 18:00 the CAPI Quartet performs summer music at Österåker Church. The programme is Uti vår hage with traditional choir songs and solo songs in Swedish folk style. Free entry, no registration. A voluntary collection goes to Tyst diakoni.
The same evening, at around 19:00, Lena Nilsson and Carina E Nilsson perform Elvis-inspired music in the garden at Båsenberga Hotell. The concert is free and requires no registration. If you want to eat beforehand, a summer grill buffet can be booked with the hotel 17:00–19:00 for SEK 395 per person.
Friday to Sunday: outdoor play, parish day and industrial museum
Friday closes the water week with outdoor play at the youth centre 11:00–15:00. It is the last day of July in the Activity Bus schedule for week 31.
Saturday 1 August offers two clear outings. Österåker Parish Day is held by the school in Österåker 10:00–14:00, co-hosted by the parish council, heritage association and school. Free, no registration. The same day Thorslundkagge’s factory shop opens in Högsjö at 10:00. Free entry to the shop; a short tour costs SEK 150 according to the organiser.
Sunday 2 August is time for a guided tour and summer café at Högsjö Industrial Museum at 14:00. Art workshop for children in the Mangelboden, summer café and textile history in the White School. Free of charge, no registration.
Already on Monday 3 August, week 32 begins with the Activity Bus at Läppe bathing place, and art camps at Säfstaholm Castle start the same day if you are planning further ahead. Registration via Sensus is required and places are limited.
