The Dandy — a stylish rebellion at Säfstaholm Castle
The exhibition The Dandy — a stylish rebellion is on show at Säfstaholm Castle in Vingåker until September 27.
Style as expression
This summer Säfstaholm Castle in Vingåker is showing the exhibition The Dandy — a stylish rebellion.
The exhibition presents the dandy as more than a well-dressed person. Style becomes a way to express freedom, self-definition and sometimes resistance. According to the castle presentation, the story moves from 18th-century dandies to modern style rebels.
The exhibition highlights names such as Beau Brummell, Oscar Wilde, David Bowie and Harry Styles. In different ways, they have used style, stage persona and expression to shape the image of themselves.
That makes the exhibition more than a look at clothes and accessories. It is also about identity, being seen and the question of who you dare to be.
